DR. KAMIL IDRIS ASSUMES HIS DUTIES AS SECRETARY-GENERAL OF INTERNATIONAL UNION FOR PROTECTION OF NEW VARIETIES OF PLANTS (UPOV)Following the appointment of Dr. Kamil Idris as Secretary-General of the International Union for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants (UPOV) on October 29, 1997, all formalities for the assumption of his responsibilities as Head of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and UPOV have been completed. In consequence, Dr. Arpad Bogsch has requested that the effective date of his retirement from the post of Secretary-General of UPOV be advanced by one month to October 31, 1997. The President of the Council of UPOV, Mr. Ryusuke Yoshimura, has issued a circular to the member States of UPOV informing them that the effective date of appointment of Dr. Kamil Idris as Secretary-General of UPOV has been advanced to November 1, 1997. |
